Most people feel relatively safe within the walls of their own homes, including that their privacy will not be violated by law enforcement officers. When a search of their home occurs, for example, it can only happen under certain circumstances. In fact, two people were recently arrested on weapons and drug charges in Missouri after officers served a warrant to search their home.
The 34-year-old woman and 36-year-old man were arrested following an afternoon search of a home on a day in late April. According to reports, the search was allegedly sparked after a drug dog detected narcotics in a package at a local delivery service; police say that there was 5 pounds of methamphetamine in the package. As a result, multiple agencies engaged in a joint effort to investigate.
Officers allegedly scheduled a "controlled delivery" of the package. Once the occupants of the home accepted the package, the police sought a search warrant. As part of the search, they claim they discovered multiple guns in the home. As both the man and woman are said to be convicted felons, neither are allowed to have a gun.
In addition to a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, both are charged with drug trafficking.
