The death of a friend or family member is, in itself, a devastating event with which to deal. Being accused of playing a role in that person's death can be even more difficult. Unfortunately, a man in Missouri is now facing a DWI charge following an incident that left a young man dead.
The accident reportedly happened during the late night hours of a day in early August. According to reports, a 24-year-old man was driving a Bobcat skid steer. His friend, a 20-year-old male, was riding in the bucket. Unfortunately, reports indicate that the younger man was thrown from the bucket after it struck a pothole.
The Missouri Highway Patrol says that the Bobcat then struck the younger man. He was transported to the hospital but ultimately passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the incident. The alleged driver has since been taken into custody, suspected of felony DWI resulting in the death of another. It is unclear what the man's blood alcohol content was at the time of the incident or how it was determined.
The incident is a tragedy as one family faces the loss of their loved one and a young man is left making decisions that will impact the rest of his life. Unfortunately, many people accused of DWI and other criminal charges in Missouri and across the country lack confidence in their ability to make informed decisions. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help guide them throughout the process of the criminal justice system.
